Everything You Need to Know about Implant-supported Dentures
Implant-supported dentures are a modern and effective solution for replacing missing teeth. Unlike traditional prostheses, they are anchored directly into the jaws using dental implants. This provides exceptional stability and optimal comfort, allowing the masticatory function to be restored that is close to that of natural teeth.
Learn All about the Dental Implant Placement Process at Bozzi & Bozzi.
Dental implant placement is a multi-step procedure that is essential to replacing missing teeth in a durable and aesthetic way. Here is an overview of the process we follow at Bozzi & Bozzi.
1. Thorough oral examination performed by the maxillofacial surgeon.
This multidisciplinary work requires a thorough examination of your oral anatomy accompanied by X-rays, your state of health, as well as an evaluation of the aesthetic and functional results achievable and hoped for.
3. Checking the dental implant and preparing for prosthesis placement.
2. Placement of the dental implant.
After completing the assessment, we proceed with the implant placement. This step is usually performed under local anesthesia and requires a healing period that can last between 3 and 6 months. During the healing period, the patient will wear immediate prostheses that will allow them to eat and keep smiling. These prostheses will be adjusted throughout this period.
4. Installation of the dental prosthesis.
After a healing period, the surgeon checks the integration of the implant using X-rays. If everything is in order, he will prepare the implant for loading into your final prosthesis.
Finally, once the implants are osteointegrated, we proceed to the manufacture of a prosthesis on an implant, either removable or fixed, with 5-7 appointments. Each prosthesis is custom-made to ensure good insertion and a natural smile.
At Bozzi & Bozzi, we are committed to providing you with professional and friendly service throughout the process. Contact us to discuss your options and get your smile back!
How to Tell If You're a Good Candidate?
To know if you can benefit from a prosthesis on implants, several elements must be evaluated:
Oral health: Good health of the gums and remaining teeth is essential.
Bone quality: The jawbone must be dense and wide enough to accommodate the implant. If this is not the case, bone grafting procedures may be considered.
Oral hygiene: To ensure the long-term success of implants, good oral care is essential.
